Maureen Lechner is a self-taught artist and the creator of Mo’s Wooden Wonders (Facebook page in development). She has dabbled in many artistic and craft venues through the years with drawing and painting her first passion; the latter she expanded her experience in oils, acrylics, pastels and ink.
Her first experience working with wood began with chain saw carving in 1993. During this approximate 10 year endeavor she created many bears, wizards and other animals; the largest a 6 foot polar bear.
Maureen began relief carving in 2012 when some friends gave her some beautiful cherry boards. Over the past 7 years she has completed over 100 relief carvings. The majority have been sold and/or given to family and friends. A few of her latest works were shown and entered into competition in Wisconsin’s 19th Annual Woodcarving Show in September 2019 in Stevens Point. She was awarded 2 blue ribbons and 2 second place ribbons for the carvings shown here.
Maureen is retired from Kimberly-Clark Corporation. She has one daughter and son-in-law with two beautiful grandchildren. She lives with her husband and dog Kodi near Fremont, Wisconsin.
