Beginning Carving
Date/Time: Saturday, March 21, 2019 @ 12:00 – 1:30pm
Cost: $10.00

At an early age my parents saw my abilities and provided materials and encouragement to explore art. Throughout my life I have practiced drawing, painting, sculpting, and other arts and crafts.

In 1980 I discovered woodworking. In 1982 I joined the Northeastern Wisconsin Woodworkers Guild. The Guild programs and interaction with members increased my woodworking skills. I soon had demand for my work.

In 1990 I opened Oak Orchard Gallery in Abrams, WI. I had a fully equipped workshop where I designed and made custom ordered furniture. The gallery featured hand made wood projects from the members of NEWWG. I had a little experience in carving and soon joined the carvers. I have taught carving for Northeast Wisconsin Technical Collage. I now centralize on designing and carving figures and animals.

The class will give an introduction to tools, sharpening, basic tool cuts, beginner figure carving. Free hand outs will be available.
